ReaPorter
ReaPorter is a free REAPER script that turns the preset files plugin vendors install on your computer into REAPER user presets. Each preset becomes an entry in the plugin's REAPER preset menu, so anything that switches REAPER presets by name can load it: the FX window, actions, SWS, OSC and control surfaces.
Install
- In REAPER, open Extensions > ReaPack > Import repositories... and paste
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/soulful-music/reaporter/main/index.xml. - Open Extensions > ReaPack > Browse packages, find ReaPorter and install it. Install ReaImGui (0.10 or newer) the same way if you don't have it, then restart REAPER.
- Run Script: ReaPorter.lua from the Actions list.
What it converts
VST3 builds of:
- FabFilter: Pro-Q 2/3/4, Pro-C 2, Pro-L/L 2, Pro-R/R 2, Pro-MB, Pro-DS, Pro-G, Saturn/Saturn 2, Timeless 2/3, Twin 2/3, Volcano 2/3, Micro, Simplon
- Valhalla DSP: every plugin with a Presets folder
- Eventide: every plugin with a folder in ~/Music/Eventide
- Soundtoys: every Soundtoys 5 plugin with a preset folder
- DMGAudio: Multiplicity, Expurgate, Essence
- LiquidSonics: Cinematic Rooms Professional, Lustrous Plates Surround
- Reverb Foundry: Tai Chi
- Relab: LX480 Dual Engine (every pack in its preset browser, with tags), LX480 v4
ReaPorter ships no presets. It converts only what is already installed on your computer, and the plugin must be installed in REAPER. Presets saved by an older version of some FabFilter plugins, encrypted presets (LiquidSonics Illusion and Seventh Heaven, Reverb Foundry HD Cart) and pre-v4 LX480 presets don't convert; each is listed with the reason. Verified on macOS. On Windows and Linux, please report what you find.
What it changes
- Nothing is written until you press Convert. The scan is a dry run.
- Before it changes a preset file it copies it to
<resource>/presets/ReaPorter-backup/. - Existing presets are never altered. New entries are appended.
- A name the file already has is skipped and reported.
- Running ReaPorter again adds only the presets that are new since the last run.
With MixSurface
MixSurface is an iPad control surface for REAPER. When its extension is installed, ReaPorter also writes the vendor's folders and a few tags, and MixSurface's FX presets layer shows the library the way the plugin's own browser files it: open a folder, narrow with tags like "small" and "room" (Browse a plugin's preset folders). That browser is a paid MixSurface feature; ReaPorter is free and works without MixSurface.
